Thanksgiving 2010

We had a game time decision to make regarding Thanksgiving this year. We could stay home for the 4 day weekend and be 2 hours late to Thanksgiving or we could pack up and drive 4 hours to my brothers. Both options sounded delightful, but we chose to pack up the crew for a visit to Chicago. Here is Layla the night before when we told her the good news.

Matt and I - thankful to have survived the drive up. I played the "mommy fetch me X" game while Matt way exceeded the speed limit to get us there in 4 hours (including one stop).

The moose head I have been dying to get on Owen ever since I found it in a cabinet.

Adam - Throwing one of a zillion fits, because he is two and because he can.

This is probably my favorite picture of the weekend. This is when Layla dove off the top of the slide forward flip style and landed on her head and then flipped over. The collective "gasp" and then Layla popping up singing like nothing happened. I think Beth almost had a heart attack - evidence here.

Owen - looking delicious.

Owen - wanting in on the stair play.

Adam - playing his masterpiece.

Our silly girls. They got 2 minutes to bang on the piano before we declared it off limits.

Happy giggles before an early bedtime.

Night one. The kids actually slept ok all together in the basement. Adam woke up at 4:45 am and was way too excited to see other people to stay asleep. He was also on a mattress on the floor so there was no keeping him in bed.

Other than the early wakeups, the kids did well. We bounced on Friday morning for a while and then the dads took the kids to McDonalds. We ate some awesome pizza and played cards and enjoyed the success of our visit.

We got up early and drove home Saturday to recover from the weekend. Everyone took a nap and today we are back to normal with errand running and soccer. It was a great trip and we are glad we went. This certainly opens the door for an annual tradition :)

Just hanging out.

Playing in the dirt.

Dressing up in mommy's wedding things.

Watching some TV.

Riding the neighborhood carousel.

We have been really busy playing around here. I haven't taken a lot of pictures because our camera is on it's last leg. We are in the market for a nicer camera in the near future. The kids are doing great and looking forward to the holidays coming up. We have two parties to plan for in the coming weeks. Hannah is especially excited for her super awesome Birthday Tea Party. It should be very special for her.
We finished our Christmas shopping this week so we can relax and take time to wrap everything without being crazy stressed. Bring on the joy!

Halloween 2010

This year for Halloween, we mostly just laid around and ate brownie batter.

We had a little pizza party before heading out trick or treating.

My super girl had the best time. She is just at the perfect age to really love this day. Layla Belle had a wonderful time too, but melted around 7:30. She was DONE. Both girls told jokes while we were out this year which was adorable. My little fireman was the cutest and did great. He made it further than I thought he would and was ready to walk into any random neighbors house. I think he thought that is what he was supposed to do. Too funny. Adam and I were both sick (and still are) so I think we did awesome. We definately missed our daddy and can't wait for him to get home! We might have to trick-or-treat again inside our house when he gets back.
