Why is there food in my bra?

It doesn't happen every day or even weekly. But sometimes, when I go to get in my jammies at night and remove my bra - food is either stuck to me or falls out. I'm not sure how this happens since I am not a messy eater. My kids don't eat on me and I don't ever recollect anyone putting food down my shirt, but there it is just the same. Tonight - a noodle. I'm intrigued by this phenomenon and now have resolve to pay closer attention in the evenings to my own shirt.

While I'm at it I may try to figure out how whole, undigested food ends up in a toddler's diaper.

Vacation.

Well - it was busy. The girls had a good time (especially Hannah) and they were very good. We were all ready to come home! The sleeping arrangements weren't the best as we were all in one room. The girls can't handle us being in the room with them - too exciting I guess. They woke up in the night and saw us - very exciting and then again at 5:30am - oooh way too exciting so our day started early. Next time we will be sure to get more rooms!
Changing into and out of swimsuits and applying sunscreen took many hours. Our next beach trip will not be until at least no one needs a morning nap. We can minimize the bathing and changing this way. We also decided that grandparents or a nanny would be helpful so we can have a few hours to ourselves. It might sound selfish, but hey - I'm only human.
The trip started out ok with Hannah getting to sit in the pilots seat! After that, the flight went down hill when Layla proceeded to scream the whole time because it was naptime. We were glad to get off the plane as were the other 200 people who had to listen to her.

Hannah was just precious and loved the ocean. This was the view from our condo - I literally took the picture out the window when she went out for the first time. (screaming Layla was now asleep) Not too bad, huh?

I didn't get Layla's first trip to the beach, but here is her post-beach hair!Layla and Abbey sharing breakfast :)Layla looking sweet at the beach on day two.Hannah was a fishy. She could swim for hours! The Gulf of Mexico was very warm and clean the first few days we were there and the girls loved it. Beach Babies. They never did look at the camera at the same time. Poor Abbey. She was a good sport while she was being used as a piece of furniture to get up on. Layla is a bit rougher since she has Hannah to play with. The giant sand castle we found on the beach. Hannah and Daddy out to dinner.Layla looking sweet when we were out to dinner. She flirted with the bus boy the whole time. She flashed all 6 of her teeth at him (yes - 6 whole teefers!). Hannah at Busch Gardens. If you have kids - for goodness sakes - go in and go LEFT - directly to the land of the dragons. It is awesome and we did it wrong. We walked the whole park before getting here and the babies were having major meltdowns. We only were able to stay here 20 minutes and getting Hannah to leave involved a fit that will scar me for life. Poor girl - it was way too cool to leave so soon. The babies found the snack bag. You would have thought they found diamonds!Babies on a boat. They did awesome. They can't walk yet, but they already have their sea legs. My neice Abbey - she is just a beautiful baby. We bonded - it was awesome. Too bad she won't remember me in a couple of months.Hannah driving her first boat. It was a big week for her!The girls with Daddy in the pool. This was our last swim. The flight home. It involved some benedryl for the baby (bliss!) and Hannah was running a fever. We were all ready for our own beds. We learned a lot from our trip. Pack less clothes - you don't need them. Pack more toys - you will be sorry if you don't have enough. Bring more meds (motrin, tylenol, mylanta, etc) you will have to run to wallgreens less this way. Prepare mentally for some melt downs, it is going to happen and it is easier to take if you are prepared. Sleeping on vacation sucks and you will be tired - drink more coffee. Take lots of pictures - you will want to remember every minute because it is a special even for YOUR family.

Our next vacation will be just a couple days to table rock in August. The Grandparents will be there - we are so excited.

Where are all the pictures?

I don't know - I'm bad. I just plain forgot to take some this week. We are getting ready for our trip to Florida on Saturday. We will be staying on the beach and heading to Busch Gardens with Aunt Beth, Uncle Mark and Abbey. It should be a fun, crazy, exhausting, trip. I'll post the pictures when we return next week.

The girls are doing fine. Layla has recovered from her illness and should be healthy for at least the next few days. They are fighting a lot more now and trying to get the same toys. We knew this was coming, but so soon? Layla is a terrible fit thrower when she doesn't get her way. Her doozies include taking her our of her swing, coming in from outside, not giving her something she wants to eat, and taking anything away from her. It is perfectly normal one year-old behavior, but it does shock you when one minute she is sweet and all smiles and then...........screaming kicking, bucking, evil child. It is worse when she is tired and tonight she was placed (screaming) in her bed at 6:30. She is now sound asleep and hopefully will stay that way for at least 11.5 hours. whewwwwwww...

Swimming and other updates

Layla had her first swimming experience this weekend since it was finally nice here in St. Louis. She was too cute in her swimsuit and thank goodness we have several because this one is brand new and too small! We got her all suited up and although she was hesitant at first, she splashed and had a grand ol' time........for about 5 minutes. Then she got sunscreen in her eyes and cried for an hour. Our swimming session was a short one :)

After our hour of crying to rinse out the sunscreen, Layla was happily being a ham and wanted to get in this playpen. In she went and she was happy as a clam. She bounced around and was generally silly for a long time :)

She also discovered that she could walk with the help of a walker and a steadying hand of mom. It won't be long before she figures out her balance and can do this herself.

So since Sunday - our happy playday, Layla got sick again and tested positive for the HIB Flu. She was vaccinated against this disease, but apparently got it anyway. We are working with the doctors to figure out why this happened and how we prevent it from happening again since HIB causes all kinds of nasty illnesses including bacterial meningitis. She is on mega antibiotics and should be feeling better soon, but it has been a crazy few days.

The Big Birthday

Layla's birthday was a good day. She got to play with mommy and daddy alone for the morning as Hannah stayed with Grandma and Papa. Layla loves some alone time with her parents :) Mommy and Daddy are funny!
Chillin with my Dad - watchin some baby video.

She took two good naps and was ready to party. We think she had a good time and did not end up too overstimulated. She played with baby friends and gave us some smiles for her pictures.

We had a wardrobe change before dinner and cake. It would have been a shame to see anything get on that beautiful dress (courtesy of Grandma of course). She tried the icing and smashed it all, but didn't care to eat it.

Layla got some nice gifts and enjoyed her audience. I will post more pictures soon as we did have a photographer at the party. I never get as many pictures as I want, so it is good to know I am covered in that area.
