Labor Day Weekend with kids

I'm getting very bad at getting this blog updated. Our weekends fly by and look - it's already Thursday night and I'm just now getting my weekend updated. Anyway, we spent the long weekend with Uncle Mark, Aunt Beth, Abbey and Owen. The kids did really well and the adults had fun too.

We had family concert night on Friday.




Layla and Abbey went to the baseball game with the daddies on Saturday. It was a perfect day for three year olds to go to a day game!

















They sat playing for two innings before they had to walk around. They talked their way into cotton candy, ice cream, soda, and nachos. They got lots of attention and loved it.



















While the girls were out, the boys got a chance to play. Adam didn't care for me holding Owen much so it's a good thing he is the baby.

Sunday we took all the kids to the park and played around the house. The weather was so nice, but this year we still have naps to tend to so we stuck close to home.















We did tons of Jeep riding. Hannah was such a sport driving all the kids around. She is the only one that can steer. Everyone else crashed.














We had a BBQ and did lots of swinging and playing.















We are definately going to look back and miss this time with all of our little kids.

Next time we go up and crash the Parson house again.

Soccer Cuteness

Hannah is not loving soccer right now. She goes and she plays hard sometimes, but gets tired and hot quickly. We are hoping as the weather gets cooler, she will like it more. If not - we are going to let her stop playing. It's not worth it to force her to go, force ourselves to go, drag the little kids to a crowded complex, walk a mile or more to a buggy soccer field, if she is not going to have fun. It doesn't help that practice is on Friday nights. After a full week of school, she wants to just relax and watch TV. I don't blame her. Instead we force food down our throats at 4:45, pack up the crew and fight traffic to the valley, haul the bags and water bottles to the field, bug spray ourselves, and try to keep Adam safe and off the soccer field(s).

Family Day

I had to take a picture of Hannah with her first homework assignment on Friday. The assignment was to make a poster of "Me". It turned out really cute. We are hoping it fits through the laminator because we want to keep it forever.
















Saturday we went to my company family day. They had a few rides set up for the kids and overall they had a good time.







Hannah loves the swings! (We are thinking this guy must have realized what a tool he looked like sitting on the swings. If not - he should. There were 50 kids in line and he took a swing.)

The crew. We didn't paint Adam and that was a good idea as that stuff is hard to get off. Our kids were tired, but the girls had a great time. Adam was done much earlier than they were, but a balloon sword made it better for a few minutes.






We took the kids swimming on Sunday since we aren't sure how many more opportunitites we will get. They had a great time jumping in and were ready for bed on time last night. In other news, our basement is almost finished so pictures of that to come soon.

End of summer BBQ.

We started off the weekend with dinner at the country club. For families with three kids this is not that easy. They don't want to sit, eat, or be quiet. Hannah did get to make her piano debut on a beautiful grand piano. The piano man let her play Mary Had a Little Lamb. It was very cute. We tried to get a family picture afterwards, but this is the best we got.


We invited a bunch of friends over Saturday for a BBQ. We used to hang out with these friends all the time. Now we that we all have kids, getting together is a little challenging. We decided to brave it anyway and invite everyone. All but a few people could make it so we ended up with 17 kids and 12 adults. I spent the morning cleaning, which seems silly now. Next time I will stick to the bare minimum - bathrooms and kitchen.

The kids we actually all very good and sweet. They played well together within their age groups and no one got hurt. We hope to see everyone more often!

First Day of School

Hannah's first day of kindergarden was yesterday and she did great. She was so excited and not at all scared. We all took her to her bus stop and she hopped right on. Matt and I had to grab her to even get a kiss.

She had a great day. She loves the adventure of school and the independence it gives her. Her second day was just as good so it looks like it is going to be an awesome year.

Weekend Update Part 1 - Adam

This was our first weekend ever with just Adam and it was awesome. He enjoyed having all of our attention and we enjoyed his cute little toddler boyness. Here we are enjoying the Cardinals game in our jammies. Bliss.




Saturday morning we packed up early and headed to the City Garden. It was pure freedom for Adam to just wander where he wanted and we followed like puppies (with a crappy camera).

Adam thought this kid was nuts. Very Funny.

We played. We climbed.

We walked up and down this hill.

We were looking adorable.

And then when it started getting crowded, we headed home.

Later that afternoon, we packed it up again (see how mobile we are with one kid?) and went to the Chesterfield pool. Two adults, one kid. Nice.

I brought toys which were a big hit and we ended up staying almost 2 hours which is a family record.

We slid.

We splashed.

We swam.

It was a good time.

Sunday I took Adam to the park in the early early hours (when most people are sleeping).

We tunneled.

We peeked.

We climbed.

We braved the mighty bridge. The dimple helped us get across; I'm sure of it.

After the park we went to Walmart, but have spared you any pictures of that adventure. That's for another blog.

And after all that fun we watched some tv.
