A weekend with us

Our weekends are usually pretty tame. We do a lot of playing, a lot of dancing, some fit throwing, occasional napping, plenty of running and yelling and some picture taking.
Things we cross off our list: brushing hair & wearing socks. The girls go to gymnastics on Saturday mornings so Adam gets some fun time to himself. He loves to dance and play cars and generally loves attention. He also likes to wear one pant leg up in the legacy rapper style.
The girls love to dress up and rarely are seen wearing regular clothes in the house. We do get them dressed in seasonally appropriate clothes every day, but really, what's the point? Each day sees about 3-4 outfit changes per girl and none of them include pants....ever. Apparently pants are evil and only the bad witches and evil queens should wear pants (aka: mommy). Here we are having some family dance time. Adam is a super good sport and lets Hannah carry him around. He loves her and follows her around (and bothers her) all day. After dinner at the very early hour of 5pm, we play and then head to the bath around 6:30. After bathtime is relaxing time for everyone until their individual bedtimes of 7, 7:30 and 8pm respectively.

That's how we roll on a typical weekend at the Shockley's.

Unexpected Day

I was happily working from home today when we decided Adam needed to go to the doctor for an ear infection check. After hearing Hannah cough a few times, something didn't sound right to me. So I took her in also. Well it turns out she has pneumonia. She went downhill quickly today and was even vomiting in the doctors office. They gave her 2 shots of antibiotics because they were afraid if she couldn't keep her meds down, we would end up in the hospital tonight. She is in good spirits after some rest this afternoon and she should be even better by tomorrow. I took the rest of the day off and cuddled and played with my girls. Adam - and his vacuum. Video to come.

Layla - chillin after too short of a nap.
Adam looking sweet last night before bed.
Adam and Matt - being silly. I'm glad I mopped those floors recently.
Adam going bye bye (or so he thinks).
See here is is - loving life with his vacuum.

Kindergarden Registration Day

Today was special big girl Kindergarden registration day. We started by taking Hannah to breakfast (which she did not eat). We went to Target so she could spend her $20 she had from her birthday in December (mom spent $86). Then we stopped at Starbucks for some decent coffee and off to school we went. We arrived at 9:55 for a 10:00am start time only to find a line of about 10 people in front of us (no big deal? - wrong!)

After 1/2 hour of waiting it became clear that the 10 people in front of us did not come prepared with their forms filled out or any of the necessary medical evaluations. Hannah was very bored and asked to be taken home, which Matt did. I stood in line......for 1 hour and 15 minutes until it was my turn. My turn took 2 minutes. I had my forms filled out (they were conveniently located on the schools website) and had Hannah's medical forms complete (also info available on the website).

Well - it's all over now and we are registered. Kindergarden: Here we come!

Dinner for 14?

We haven't seen some of our dear friends in too long, so we decided to invite everyone over for dinner today. Together we (3 couples) have 8 children ages 6,5,4,3,2,2,1 and 3 months. Now you understand why we don't get together enough! The evening went really well and although there were some tears, there were no injuries and everyone left happy.
We started off with some Elefun. You can see my girls dressed for a par-tay. Hannah in her Christmas dress and Layla in her gymnastics outfit.
And after dinner of delicious Fortel's Pizza, we decorated cookies.
Yes - My girls had a wardrobe change into their new Disney nightgowns. Doesn't everyone wear nightgowns to a dinner party? And after sugar cookies covered in sugar frosting and colored sugar sprinkles - we gave them suckers. Smart!Layla waited patiently all night to hold this baby. She was in heaven. And here is the gang (minus tiny baby Clara). She'll be in there soon enough.

Thanks for coming guys - it was fun!

Super Cute Tub Time.

I often play a game with the girls that involves them making the emotion face that I name. Hannah mastered this game years ago and loves it, and Layla is getting quite good. Coupled with the fact that she can cry or puke on command; I think she could be a little actress.

and yes - the game is nearly always played out in the tub. That is where the game originated and there is has stayed. It knocks the socks off your typical tub toy and there is no splashing involved.

Mad Face.Surprised Face.
Sad Face.
Excited Face.
Thinking Face.
Happy Face.
Sweet Face.
and there you have it - Super Duper Cute Tub Time.

There is no better time....

to let your baby enjoy some quality naked time, than right after
he pees on the freshly cleaned

bathroom rug.

And he might as well make some phone calls while he is doing it.
